Hubby doesn’t like vinegar.  He just can’t stand the smell. Hmp!  If he were a vampire, suka, could very well be his bawang.  Funny thing is, he will gladly dip his Lapid’s freshly popped chicharon in the vinegar that comes from Lapid’s. Go figure!

Hubby doesn’t like raisins in his ulam.  He will pick out each and every piece of raisin in his menudo or arroz a la cubana.  He eats raisins, yes…as long as they’re not in his ulam.  Go figure!

Hubby doesn’t like pork and beans.  He will only eat it if, lo and behold, there is nothing else to eat.

I didn’t have to discover my husband’s food-related quirks.  Having been together for over 8 years before finally tying the knot, I already knew before hand, that I can’t expect him to share my love for paksiw na pata and that I will have to enjoy vinegar as my dipping sauce of choice for inihaw by my lonesome.

But he is willing to compromise.  Take this Paksiw na Lechon for instance…

I was under very strict orders to add but a subtle amount of vinegar to the paksiw.  Well, he’d be crazy not to eat paksiw na lechon!  And paksiw is not paksiw without vinegar.  Hee hee.  The same goes for our adobo.  Too much vinegar and he will opt for a sandwich.
