Wifespeaks: Chika Tuesday

When my husband proposed seven years ago, he did not get down on one knee. He did not present me with an eye-popping 5-karat diamond solitaire, he did not do a you-are-the-best-thing-that-ever-happened-to-me speech, and neither did he execute his proposal strategy stealthily, nor with any pomp and circumstance for that matter!

My (now) hubby just asked a simple question, oh like a gazillion times, every day for three whole weeks.

“Pakasal na tayo?”

For me, I felt that commitment was something that nobody should ever take lightly. So, for his daily questions, I answered “No” a gazillion times, too, just because I knew I was the one who was not ready for that commitment.

But then, who can keep saying no to a serious, determined, lovable, pogi guy who was ready to love me for the rest of his life? And just like that I knew, deciding with both my head and my heart, that I was going to love this man for the rest of mine.

Sometimes, I find myself wishing that I had a grandiose proposal - the kind that you see on TV and movies. But when I think about it, I don’t think I would have been able to handle the pressure of a one-time-big-time proposal production - I don’t even know if I would have been able to produce the tears of joy on cue, haha! - but that’s just me :D
